How to upgrade in Phantom Blade Zero
Everything that makes Soul stronger: weapon and Phantom Edge levels, the material lines, medicine, the skill tree, Tempering, and the three stat collectibles. Guide-site numbers are marked as provisional.

Weapon and Phantom Edge levels
- Unlock the forge. Reach the Outpost Bell in Weeping Creek Valley during the quest “Against the Flow” and meet Forge.Press
- Open any Bell → Upgrade Equipment. Tabs for Main Weapons and Phantom Edges.Guide
- Pay Remnant Dust plus a material. Primaries use their class metal (Forged, Twinned or Broadplate) plus Solvent. Edges use their category material. Each line has three tiers.Guide Full lines on the Weapons and Phantom Edges pages.
- Watch the milestones. Guides report new traits around levels 5, 10, 15 and 25. Level 10 unlocks a class-wide ability that carries over to every weapon of that class.GuideGuide

Medicine (healing)
- Refill: resting at a Bell restores your medicine.
- More uses: come from the Train Abilities skill tree. KeenGamer lists Boundless Capacity among the best early unlocks, alongside Healing Art, Thousand-Mile Stride and Steady Composure.Guide
- Stronger heals: guides describe an Upgrade Medicine option in the Bell's upgrade menu. Higher tiers reportedly need a key item found later in the game. We'll name it once we can confirm it.
If you're struggling early, the cheapest fix is usually an extra medicine use from the skill tree. And since resetting Ability Training refunds what you spent, nothing is lost.Guide
Tempering (Soul Temper)
Tempering is official. Two achievements ask you to Temper 10 weapons (“A Tempered Ten”, 5.3%) and 10 Phantom Edges (“Phantom Arsenal”, 6.8%).Official games.gg reports that Myst in Pangzhen unlocks the service, and that each Soul Temper needs its matching material plus 5,000 Remnant Dust.Guide Treat the cost as provisional until it is confirmed in-game.

When can you upgrade weapons in Phantom Blade Zero?
About an hour into the story. You meet the blacksmith Forge at an Outpost Bell in Weeping Creek Valley; after that, any Bell has an Upgrade Equipment menu.
How do you upgrade medicine in Phantom Blade Zero?
Guides describe two routes: improving the medicine itself from the Bell’s upgrade menu, and buying extra uses in the Train Abilities skill tree (KeenGamer recommends Boundless Capacity early). Resting at a Bell refills it.
What is the max weapon level in Phantom Blade Zero?
Level 30, for both primary weapons and Phantom Edges, per the Steam achievements “Overwhelming Force” and “Skill Over Strength”.
Can you respec in Phantom Blade Zero?
Yes. Reverting a weapon at a Bell resets it to level 1 and refunds every material and all Remnant Dust. Guides say resetting Ability Training also refunds what you spent.
